How the Kollreider Suite got its name

We got to know Oswald Kollreider, Strassen's most famous son and world-famous painter, personally. Our father had bought one of his paintings at auction decades ago, so it felt like one of the famous "Bedouins" was always hanging in our living room. When we remodelled the first rooms, it quickly became clear that the old massage rooms on the first floor of the main building would become a suite. And when we started looking for names and our room categories all bore the names of famous East Tyrolean painters, it soon became clear that our favourite painter should have his own suite dedicated to him. So we registered with him and he then welcomed us personally and told us stories from his life at the kitchen table. When we finally asked him for permission to name a suite after him, he immediately agreed and put it in writing. This "deed" has been carefully stored in our safe ever since ...

REMODELLING OF THE PARLOUR1399

Our most historic parlour had been waiting to be renovated for years ...
In spring 2023, the time had come and behind the countless layers of plaster in all colours (gold, green, blue), ancient stones came to light. During the renovation phase, we changed the plans several times, as a "Rauchkuchl" was found at the rear parlour (black stones full of soot on the walls testified to this). Some of the stones came to meet us, so the idea of a wooden arched entrance was born, which secures the stoneware behind it. The existing wooden cross was restaged and placed in the centre of the chapel-like parlour.
The front area of the parlour was given a new stove and the furnishings were finished in white soaped spruce. This allows the centuries-old stone walls to appear discreetly in the background. The floor is unique and was painstakingly poured in ten days, with inlaid red stone from Dobbiaco, reminiscent of red wine drinking.

We are looking forward to the renovation of one of the
oldest rooms in the house,
the Messakeller, our new wine cellar in the Ansitz.

One of the oldest rooms in the house will soon be made accessible, our new wine cellar will be built here in 2025 and we will then invite guests to wine tastings here more often.
